Natalie is from Chicago, Illinois, United States and is a member of Rickover Naval Academy Sea Scouts (5709) of the Pathway to Adventure Council. She has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice. She just graduated from Rickover Naval Academy.
Some key accomplishments in Scouting, academics, and sports include being able to race the Mackinaw Island Race in 2016 and sail the boat back to Chicago. Besides sailing, she also participated in Cross Country and was the girl’s Captain this past season and placed 9th out of 150 girls in one of the races in which she competed. Also, aside from extracurricular activities, during school she has been able to keep a high class rank and take the most rigorous courses offered at her school.
She feels that taking part in the William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup will be a great experience to meet new people and their cultures.
She has been sailing for three years and participated in sanctioned sailing races during the fall, spring, and summer. She has sailed in 420’s and a Farr 40.
Sanctioned sailing races were out of the Chicago Yacht Club at Belmont Station in May of 2016, May of 2017, and October of 2017. Another sanctioned race was the Mackinaw Island in Michigan in July of 2016.

Scouting: Participated in several international boating jamborees and trips, having handled difficult situations, is a leader and a mentor for younger children who wishes to learn scouting and sailing, having proficiency certificate in navigating and operating small crafts.
Academics: Been moved up one grade from 8th to 9th grade because of academic and personal prowess.
Community service: Plays the trumpet for church at special occasions
She is open minded, and participate, lending a hand where ever she can, and constantly using her curiosity to learn more.
She thinks the Koch Cup will offer a cultural exchange and the opportunity to gain new friends, and she would like to offer up her own experiences, as well as learning from others. For her it is about the community, having fun, and learning both about scouting, racing and challenging myself.
She has been racing for 7+ years. Sea scouts in Denmark do not participate in sanctioned sailing races, but Kaja and her team mate have tried it several times in several boat types.
Isaac is from Heath, Texas, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Enterprise (1000) of the Circle Ten Council. He has been active in scouting for one year and has earned the rank of Apprentice. He will graduate High School in 2022.
He is a volunteer at Boys and Girls Club. He has been awarded the Jim Wright Leadership award and the Best Crew Award at the Rush Creek Yacht Club (RCYC) as well ad the Sportsmanship Award at the Roadrunner Regatta in 2017. He received a invitation to National Junior Honors Society in 2017.
He loves sailing and all the things it teaches him. It teaches responsibility, leadership, and how to be independent. With his sportsmanship and character he feels he will represent Ship 1000 well at the Koch Cup.
He has been sailing for 7 years on the TSA Youth Circuit and RCYC. He has sailed Optis, Lasers, 420’s, FJ’s, MC’s, E-scow, Melges 24, and Flying Scott.
Filip is from Turku, Finland and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Scoutkåren Pojkarna of the Finlands Svenska Scouter r.f. He has been active in scouting for 11 years and has earned the rank of Rover. He just graduated from Katedralskolan i Åbo.
His school is coming about nicely and he have gotten lots of good grades. In school he has taken a additional courses in German, physics, chemistry, math and social studies. He has also been participating in his schools team for a business competition. With his physics group he took part in an excursion to CERN.
He has now worked 4 summers as a sailing coach at his local sailing club and also participated in many courses in sailing and sea-life in general.
In scouting he is a group leader for younger scouts and participate in most of the camps.
He stated “I think that my interests would be a great match for this event and I think that we would make a really great team to sail against. Me and my teammate use most of our free-time in summer sailing and participating in all kinds of sailing competitions.”
I also think that my long background in scouting is a positive. In addition he have been interested in boats since he was a little kid.
He participated in the 2016 Koch Cup and he thinks it is one of the best experiences he has ever had and he feels it is a dream come true once again to participate.
He has been sailing for 10 years. In the summer months he participate almost every week in local competitions and about once a month in bigger nationwide competitions. He has raced in Optimist, Zoom8, Laser, 5.5m, 6mr and also in various other keel-boats and dinghies.
Will is from Wayne, New Jersey, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 104 of the Northeast Council. He has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice. He will graduate in 2020 from Wayne Valley HS.
In Sea Scouts he has done Long Island Sound racing yacht trips and two Sea Scout regattas. He is on his High school football and basketball teams.
He looks forward to competing in the Koch Cup because it will give him the opportunity to compete against and get to know other scouts from all over the country at the highest level.

Jack is from San Diego, California, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 1886 of the San Diego Imperial Council. He has been active in scouting for 9 years and has earned the rank of Eagle and Ordinary. He just graduated from Clairemont High.
His key accomplishments in scouting are finishing the rank of Eagle and serving in many important leadership roles. For community service he has been volunteering at his local church for the past three years. Scouting gets him involved in a lot of community service. In sports besides sailing, he was voted most valuable player for his high school badminton team.
He has been sailing for 6 years about once a month. He has sailed in many different boats to include
FJs, j29, Astra a 38-foot custom sloop, soling, Narissa a 45-foot custom yawl, and Sugar Sue a custom 39-foot sloop. He has been sailing for the past three years in San Diego Bay, Pacific Ocean, Newport, and Mission Bay.
Hannah is from San Clemente, California, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Mariners (936) of the Orange County Council. She has been active in scouting for 4 years and has earned the rank of Ordinary. She will graduate in 2020 from San Clemente High School.
She is the Western Region Boatswain’s Mate, a 2017 SEAL Graduate, and Mariners Boatswain’s Mate. She is planning to complete her Girl Scout Gold Award by June 2018. She sails for San Clemente High School and has her US Sailing Level 1 instructor certificate.
She feels she is an accomplished sailor and looks forward to competing again in Koch Cup. She competed in 2016 as a rising Freshman and placed mid fleet in Koch Cup.
She has been sailing for 9 years in regattas at least once a month. She has sailed CFJ’s, 420’s, Laser’s, and J22’s. She placed first in the Jim Elroy Cup at the San Diego Yacht Club.
Andrew is from Frederick, Maryland, United States and is a member of Sea Scout 59 of the National Capital Area Council. He has been active in scouting for 11 years and has earned the rank of Ordinary. He just graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson High School.
He has maintained leadership positions within his ship in all but his first year. He is currently Boatswain of Ship 59. He has earned honor roll several times in High School and has participated in several scout related community projects, many Eagle Scout projects and is always the first to volunteer for duties within the ship. He has been an active swimmer for seven years, the last two years as a member of Governor Thomas Johnson High School Varsity swim team, lettering last year. He has been sailing for many years but first competitively in last years Regional Qualifying race at Tall Timbers, Maryland where my fellow sailor Ryan Miller and won.

He has been active in scouting for 8 years and has earned the rank of Venture scout. He will graduate in 2019 from Shun Tak Fraternal Association Seaward Woo College.
He has Hong Kong Sailing Federation Dinghy Certificate Scheme Level 3 and completed the Scout Association of Hong Kong Laser Bahia Sailing Training Course. He has taken part in various races to include the 2014 Sea Scout Regatta Topper Trophy where he finished Second Runner-up, the 2016 Sea Scout Regatta Topper Trophy finishing first, and the 2017 Sea Scout Regatta Topper Trophy also finishing first.
He is looking forward to the Koch Cup and the challenge to compete with international racers.

He is on his Schools basketball team. Has Hong Kong Sailing Federation Dinghy Certificate Scheme Level 3 and completed the Scout Association of Hong Kong Laser Bahia Sailing Training Course. He has taken part in various races to include the 2014 Sea Scout Regatta Topper Trophy finishing as the First Runner-up, the 2016 Sea Scout Regatta Topper Trophy taking Second Runner-up honors , and the 2017 Sea Scout Regatta Topper Trophy placing 4th.
He has been sailing for 4 years averaging two races each year in Toppers, Hunters, and Bahias.
Brennan is from Wayne, New Jersey, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Packanack (104) of the Northern New Jersey Council. He has been active in scouting for 2 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice. He will graduate in 2020 from Wayne Valley High School.
He is a volunteer for the Special Olympics. Hr was ranked third in NJ in Alpine Ski Racing in 2017 (U16) and competed in USSA Northeast Finals in 2016 and 2017
He has deep love of sailing/racing and a commitment to Sea Scouts. He had so much fun meeting other Scouts at the Northeast qualifier and is looking forward to the Koch Cup to compete.
He has been sailing for 5 1/2 years in local races few times a year. He competed in the Sailing Association of North Jersey Lakes race and competed at the Northeast Qualifier in Avery Point.
Thomas is from Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Brutus (131) of the Spirit of Adventure Council. He has been active in scouting for 2 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice. He will graduate in 2019 from Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.
He received the Most Outstanding Sailor Award two years in a row for his high school sailing team and 2nd in his division for 2017 spring sailing. He teaches kids with disabilities how to ride bikes through the ICanBike program in Cambridge. He place 2nd in the Quincy Bay Race Week Regatta and CBC Fall Classic.
He believes that he has demonstrated sailing potential within his Sea Scout Ship and participating in the Koch Cup will allow him to learn from Sea Scouts from all over the world.
He has been sailing for 5 years. He sails many races every year through various programs, depending on the season. His only Sea Scout sanctioned race was the Koch Cup Qualifiers. He has sailed club and collegiate 420s, FJs, J24s, Tech dinghies, and Cape Cod Mercuries.
João is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and is a member of 123 GEMar Almirante Saldanha – Rio de Janeiro. He has been active in scouting for 10 years and has earned the rank of Senior. He just graduated from Professor Antônio Maria Teixeira.
He has earned 4 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals in 11 regattas and need awarded the Brazilian Caio Viana Martins Medal for Bravery for saving a drowning victim. He help build a Christmas tree with his troop made of recycled material, led his troop in an urban forest cleaning, 15 scout specialties level 3, Golden Cord, Sea Scout Insignia, Bronze medal on the Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad (OBM 2017).
He is the youngest most experienced sailor in his group and lead them in many sea scout activities proposed by his leaders. He is preparing himself to be a leader and the Sea Scout Cup will be a great opportunity to test and confirm his sea scout skills (nautical and others) that he has learned. His experience will impact other young people in his group, his neighborhood, his city and maybe his country. In a country where we still have important racial and social gaps, he will show that everyone can win and realize our dreams.

Evan is from Frederick, Maryland, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 59 of the National Capital Area Council. He has been active in scouting for 13 years and has earned the rank of Sea Scout Apprentice & Eagle Scout. He will graduate in 2021 from Boston University.
He joined Ship 59 after earning his Eagle rank in September 2015 as a Junior in high school. He has participated in a number of weekend sails in the Chesapeake Bay as well as two long sails in Narragansett Bay and the James River, as well as Winter Training and the Nygard competition. He is an avid kayaker and backpacker and has earned the sailing, canoeing, kayaking and backpacking merit badges. His Eagle project was completed for his high school where he worked on the outdoor classroom, installing trex bench seating as well as trailblazing and installing a tiered path off the main trail which allowed creek access for student research. He also marked the trail and installed 6 tree ID plaques. He has volunteered at Camp Airy, his district resident summer camp as a Junior staff, Camp SPL and now merit badge counselor for Skating and Pioneering.
He was selected as a 2018 NESA World Explorer Amazon Biologist and will be traveling to Tiputini Biodiversity Research Station this summer. From September to December 2017, he completed EMT training at Boston University and after passing the national exam, is a licensed EMT in Massachusetts and works for Boston University’s EMT crew as well as a volunteer Health Ambassador.
He has been sailing with his ship since the Fall 2015 after earning his BSA Eagle rank. He feels fortunate to be included in the 2018 Koch Cup to represent his Ship.

He has been active in scouting for 7 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice in Sea Scouts and Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts. He will graduate in 2020 from Sheboygan North High School.
He is the Boatswain for Ship 5050. He has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, is NYLT trained, an Order of the Arrow member and SPL for Troop 859. He was a national qualifier for Future Business Leaders of America and regional qualifier for National History Day. He is on the varsity swim team and captain for the high school sailing team. He participates in various community service projects with his church, school and scouts.
As the first place qualifier in the Fond du Lac Light House regatta, he feels it would be an honor for him to participate in the Sea Scout Cup. He enjoys sailing and he feels this would be a great opportunity to learn and improve his skills, teamwork and seamanship. For three years he has been leading Scout Group which consisted of 13 people and has worked on sailing camp staff several times.

He has been doing scouting for 10 years, and aims to achieve his Springbok badge this year. He has all his water charges and loves being on the water and will be applying to sail the in the Cape to Rio sailing race next year with the Scouts South Africa. He plans to do a Master Skipper sailing course when he is finished school and to sail to see the world. He would love to eventually join the Coast Guard in the USA.

He is a member of the Track Team and Cross Country Team in High School and is involved in Show Choir, Drama and in the Catholic Youth Organization Theater. He enjoys volunteering in his church and community to include Boy Scouts where he currently holds the rank of Life Scouts and is the Senior Patrol Leader of his troop. He is also a member of Order of the Arrow. As a Sea Scout for a year and a half, he holds the rank of Apprentice and is a Crew Leader.

He is a Sea Scout and a Venturer. He is a national and junior champion in two classes of dinghy, ACT Sea Scouts Tri-Lakes Champion, Sirius Cup winner, ACT Teams Racing Championship winner, and 6th place finisher in the 2016 Koch Cup. He is a community: sailing instructor, YMCA.
He feels that The Koch Cup is an amazing experience. It is a great opportunity to learn sailing and racing skills, and to learn about Scouting directly from other Sea Scouts from all round the world. The regatta is a world-class event that provides a unique opportunity to meet new Scouts, new sailors, and to create long lasting friendships and international connections. He loved competing in the 2016 Koch Cup and looks forward to competing again.

Orla is from Gowrie, Australian Capital Territory, Australia and is a member of Lake Tuggeranong Sea Scouts of the Scouts ACT. She has been active in scouting for 10 years and has earned the rank of Rover. She attends Canberra College.
In scouting she has earned the Australian Scout Medallion and is a Queen’s Scout recipient. She is currently studying to earn a Bachelors of Nursing/Bachelors of Para-medicine. She is also a Champion Highland Dancer, National, Junior and Female Champion in two classes of dinghy, ACT Teams Racing Championship Winner and in 2016 Koch Cup placed 6th.
She is passionate about sailing and the Scouting movement. Being part of the Scouting movement has taught her a lot and she believes that it empowers young people and provides them with extremely unique and exciting opportunities. She is competitive and a sportsmanlike sailor and she is always excited to meet new people and face the new challenges that scouting and sailing provide her with.
She has been sailing for 12 years competing twice a week at club racing during the season, regularly in State Titles and National Championships, traveled to California in 2016 and to Dublin in 2017 to compete. Toby is from Blenheim, Marlborough, New Zealand and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Marlborough. He has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Venturers. He attends Marlborough Boys College.
He enjoys coaching young sailors, is active in athletics and fitness. And his working on DoE.
He has been sailing for 5 years in Optimists, Starlings, Lasers ,420s and Sports Boats.
Robert is from Bridgeport, New York, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Cricket (876) of the Longhouse Council. He has been active in scouting for 12 years and has earned the rank of Eagle and Able. He will graduate in 2021 from Michigan State University.
He achieved Eagle in scouting and was also was National Merit Finalist in academics. He qualified to compete in the Koch Cup at the Northeast Region Qualifier.
He has been sailing for 5 years and been racing seriously for 2 years. He has mostly raced lasers and 420s and also has some experience in lightnings and has spent a season as fore deck crew on a J24.
He has placed top 4 in lightning and J24 regattas and he placed second at a Koch Cup qualifier. Most of his laser/420 races were casual ones done within his yacht club, not sanctioned races.
Zak is from Bay Village, Ohio, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Intrepid (41) of the 440 Council. He has been active in scouting for 12 years and has earned the rank of Eagle. He just graduated from Bay High School.
This will be his second time going to the Koch Cup. He competes in 3 sports: Track, Cross Country, and Swimming. He has been in Boy Scouts since 1st grade and he is now an Eagle Scout. He has given 500+ hours to the Lake Nature and Science Center and assists with animal rehab, has played clarinet in Marching Band, baritone sax in Jazz Ensemble and contra-bass clarinet in the Symphonic Band.
He loved doing this race last Koch Cup when it was in long beach and he looking forward to having an even better experience again this time.

RJ is from San Diego, California, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 1886 of the San Diego Imperial Council. He has been active in scouting for 9 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice and is an Eagle Scout. He will graduate in 2021 from Steele Canyon High School.
In Boy Scouts he has earned the Eagle Scout award with 19 Eagle Palms, serves as a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, is a Brotherhood member in the Order of the Arrow, has earned 115 merit badges, and the Webelos Supernova Award. He is a volunteer staff for Cub Scout, Trailblazers and Eagle Camps, NYLT attendee and NYLT Staff, CIT for Camp Fiesta Island. In high school he is on the Principal’s Honor Roll, Steele Canyon Cross Country, Wrestling and Swimming teams

She has been sailing almost every weekend for 12 years and has experience on 420s, lasers, sunfish, hobie 15s, optis, J22s, S2 6.9s, and Escow 28s. She has taken part in races at the Tampa Sailing Squadron and Clearwater Community Sailing Center.
Issac is from Everett, Washington, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Constellation (226) of the Mt. Baker Council. He has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice. He will graduate in 2020 from Home Schooled – Everett School District.
He has been a member of his High School sailing team for two years, and club baseball for three years, besides his high school team he has also done keel boat racing for three years in the Puget Sound, and wishes to expand his experiences and meet other Scouts from around the world.

Joanna is from Kielce, Swietokrzyskie, Poland and is a member of KHDZ (33) of the ZHP ChorÄ…giew Kielecka. She has been active in scouting for 12 years and is not a Leader. She will graduate in 2020 from SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
One of her key accomplishment in Scouting was receiving The Sportsmanship Trophy at the end of Sea Scout Cup in 2016.
The adventure 2 years ago in California was one of the greatest she has ever had. It is my dream with Mateusz to come back this time to Texas, meet old friends, make new friendships and with a fair tail wind maybe even improve our results.

He enjoys teaching kids with disabilities how to ride bikes through the ICanBike program in Cambridge and Arlington. He is the Controls Captain on the Team 97 FRC Robotics team and the CRLS Underwater Robotics Team. He took 1st Place at the Quincy Bay Race Week Regatta and CBC Fall Classic
He believes that he has demonstrated sailing potential within his Sea Scout Ship and participating in the Koch Cup would allow him to learn from Sea Scouts all over the world.
He has been sailing for 6 years having sailed many races every year through various programs, depending on the season. His only Sea Scout sanctioned race was the Koch Cup Qualifiers.
Lubos is from Nashville, Tennessee, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 1148 of the Great Lakes Field Service Council. He has been active in Sea Scouts for 1 year and has earned the rank of Apprentice. He will graduate in 2019 from Hume-Fogg High School.
As a Boy Scout he has earned the Rank of Eagle Scout, was on high school Wrestling Team, and has been involved with many service projects with his troop.
His Sailing partner and he placed first in the Motor City Regatta.
He has been sailing for little over a year and has experience with V-15s and Flying Scots.
Alexander is from East Falmouth, Massachusetts, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Nobska (40) of the Cape Cod and Islands Council. He has been active in scouting for 9 years and has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He will graduate in 2020 from Falmouth High School.
In Boy Scouts he has earned Eagle Scout, was the SPL of his troop for a year, the ASSPL for his jamboree contingent and is currently the Order of the Arrow Lodge Chief, and the Squadron Boatswain. He has volunteered a lot with school and scouts, especially to the Falmouth service center. He is a member of his varsity cross country team, does winter track and tennis.
He feels he is pretty good at sailing and competing is the Koch Cup would be an excellent opportunity to connect with Sea Scouts across the nation and world, and it seems like a one of a kind event that he does not want to miss out on.

Yan Ming is from Yuen Long, Hong Kong, and is a member of Scout Association of Hong Kong Kowloon Region (First Kowloon Sea Scout Group) of the Scout Association of Hong Kong. He has been active in scouting for 10 years and has earned the rank of Venture Scout. He will graduate in 2020 from Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education.
He is on his Schools basketball team and Hong Kong Marathon helper. He has taken part in various races to include the 2016 Sea Scout Regatta Hunter Trophy finishing as the First Runner-up and the 2017 Sea Scout Regatta Laser Pico Trophy placing 4th.

Matheus is from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 123 GEMar Almirante Saldanha – Rio de Janeiro (1234). He has been active in scouting for 5 years and has earned the rank of Senior. He will graduate in 2020 from Colégio Sarah Dawsey.
He has been awarded 1 gold and 1 silver medal in 4 regattas, 7 level 2 scouts specialties acquired in 6 camps, built a Christmas tree with his troop made by recycled material, earned a Gold medal at the on the Brazilian Astronomy Olympiad in 2016 and a bronze in 2015 and 2017.
He is a dedicated sea scout who is putting his scout fundamentals learned in practice through life. He has learned maritime culture and had nautical experiences during his tenure as a Sea Scout. Competing in the Sea Scout Cup is a dream to experience the best regatta for scouts in the world and will be an experience that he feels he will share with his colleagues in Brazil at his ship and at school.

Nicolette is from Lexington, Michigan, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Lexington (SSS 320) of the Water and Woods Council. She has been active in scouting for a little over a year and has earned the rank of Apprentice. She will graduate in 2019 from Croswell-Lexington High School.
She is an Honor Roll student, the Student Council Secretary, serves on the National Honor Student Executive Board, a State qualifier in Cross-Country, and a member of the Varsity Cross-Country, Varsity Power-lifter, and Varsity Track and Field.
She has been sailing for about a year on FJs and Flying Scots.
Meaghan is from Bourne, Massachusetts, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Nobska (40) of the Cape and Islands Council. She has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Abele. She will graduate in 2019 from Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School.
In high school she is on the Honor roll, active in cheer leading, softball, and takes advance classes.

Cathal is from Galway, Ireland and is a member of Port of Galway Sea Scouts (24) of Galway. He has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Bos’n. He just graduated from St. Enda’s College.
He has many accomplishments to include winning the Irish Sea Scout team racing regatta in 2015, 2016 and 2017, was part of the winning team in the Irish Senior Regional Applied Math quiz 2017, receiving an Academic Achievement award from St Enda’s College in 2017, coming in second in the Cong-Galway (Ireland’s longest inland river race ) in 2015.
He has competed in many Irish National 420 racing events from 2014-2017, competed in school sailing event 2017 and 2018. He was very fortunate to have been invited as part of the crew on the Green Dragon – Volvo Open 70 – in the Giraglia Rolex Cup in June 2017 and then got the opportunity to sail all around the Mediterranean for a further 4 weeks in August 2017.
He also enjoys kitesurfing.
He was disappointed to be narrowly beaten in the 2015 qualifying event but was thrilled to qualify as the team to represent Scouting Ireland this year and look forward to the opportunity to sail in America with teams from many countries worldwide and make many new friends through the Scouting organisation.
He has been sailing for 8 years, and competing in races for 6 years on Optimists, 420’s, Fireflies and Topaz. He has competed in races in various locations throughout Ireland from 2013-2017.
Ché-vonne is from Roodepoort, Gauteng, South Africa and is a member of the Florida Lake Sea Scouts (123). She has been active in scouting for 7 Years and has earned the rank of Troop Leader. She graduated in 2017 from The King’s School West Rand.
She has achieved her Springbok Award in scouting and will soon be going over to rovers and aspire to become an Assistant Troop Scouter at Florida Lake Sea Scouts. She has just matriculated with 3 distinctions, in mathematics, accounting and Life Orientation and 5 B’s. In order to achieve her Springbok she was required to do 40 hours of community service, in order to do this he rebuilt stairs in the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens.
She enjoys sailing and the adrenaline that it comes with. She feels competing in the Koch Cup will be an incredible experience and she would love to be able to meet scouts from all over the world whilst learning new skills.

In high school she earned a Foreign Language Award, was in the Guitar Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble

Nick is from Bay Village, Ohio, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 41 of the Lake Erie Council. He has been active in scouting for 12 years and has earned the rank of Ordinary. He just graduated from Bay Village High School.
He has been active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Sea Scouts. He is a dedicated student with particular interest in math and computers, is a reading camp volunteer and a member of the Edge Water Yacht Club Jr Sailing Team.
At the Koch Cup this summer he feels he will be an enthusiastic representative of Americas Youth and an example of good sportsmanship.
He has been sailing for 9 years with racing experience on FJs Lasers, and Jet 14s.
Sara is from Trenton, Michigan, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 1148 of the Great Lakes Field Council Service Council. She has been active in scouting for 10 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice. She just graduated from Henry Ford College.
In high school, she played volleyball, basketball, softball, earned her varsity letter in golf, and was part of the National Honor Society where she did a lot of community service. She got her academic letter her junior year of high school and made the Dean’s list in her first year of college.
In her Sea Scout ship and Venture crew, she was secretary for a year, then vice president, and then Boatswain. She raced the Port Huron to Mackinac race last year and helped teach the flying scot class at Edison Boat Club and also has her skipper’s card from Edison.
She is very active in sailing in her sea scout ship She really enjoys the sport and feels she is ready to compete internationally.
She has been sailing competitively for 2 years, but overall for 4 years. She competes in races at least 5 times this past year. She has raced in flying scots and in bigger boats.
The Motor City Regatta was held at the Detroit Yacht Club in the Detroit River, but all her other racing has been in Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and the Detroit River.
Jose is from Chicago, Illinois, United States and is a member of Rickover Naval Academy Sea Scouts (Ship 5709) of the Pathways to Adventure Council. He has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice. He just graduated from Rickover Naval Academy.
Some key accomplishments that he has achieved are Awards from regattas, and he has participated in many events where he volunteers to raise money for the Ship. He is ranked in the top 20% of his school.
At the Koch Cup this summer he looks forward to meeting people of his peers and people with similar talents and goals.
He has been sailing for the past 3 years and participates in sanctioned sailing races every fall, summer, and spring. He has raced in C420s, sonars, and a Farr 40. He has sailed out of the Chicago Yacht Club-Belmont Station.
Aiden is from Liverpool, New York, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Cricket (876) of the Longhouse Council. He has been active in scouting for 4 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice. He just graduated from Manlius Pebble Hill.
He is a member of National Honors Society and was the Senior Class President. In terms of community service, he volunteers through sea scouts and his school environmentalist club to engage in environmental restoration initiatives.
Aiden and his brother came in 2nd place for the Kiwi Cup at the 2016 Koch Cup. He believes that he will be able to provide a competitive edge to the competition. He made a lot of valuable friends at the 2016 Koch Cup and he hopes to do the same this year.
He has been sailing for 4 years and racing for 3 years. He has raced on FJs, 420s, Hobie 16s, Lasers, Sunfish, Lightnings, Bluejays, Snipes, Hunter 22s, and Flying Scots. He races all the time at the Onondaga Yacht Club, annually at the Delta Lake Yacht Club and at other various regattas
Talib is from St. Petersburg, Florida, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Intrepid (915) of the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council. He has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Ordinary. He will graduate in 2020 from Lakewood High School.
In scouting he helps with daily leadership as well has individual coaching with the needs of his ship, he is a current boatswains mate. He teaches a summer camp for sailing as well as teaching sailing for beginners to a homeschooling co-op. While schooling is his top priority he makes time for sailing, scouting, and volunteering at Lake-view elementary at least once a week.
He tries his best to delegate time between schooling and scouting and sailing to the best of his ability and manages to do decent at all of those and looks forward to show his self as a sailor at a national competition.
He has been around sailboats since he was born but he first started sailing his own boat when he was 7. He participates in sanctioned sailing races 1-2 times a month with South Point High School sailing on Lakewood Varsity team B. He has sailed Optimists, Catalina 16.5s, Sunfish, Windmills, 420s, Hobie cats, Catalina 14.2s, as well as various types of large boats 20+ feet.
Jake is from Blenheim, Marlborough, New Zealand and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Marlborough (Marlborough) of the Marlborough Council. He has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Venturer. He attends the Marlborough Boys College.
He enjoys coaching young sailors, is active in the arts and acting, and working on DoE.
He has been sailing for 5 years and competed in the Inter Dominion sail race, and won the NZ trial. He has been racing on Optimists, Starlings, Laser, 420 and sports boats.

He has Hong Kong Sailing Federation Dinghy Certificate Scheme Level 3. He has taken part in various races to include the 2014 Sea Scout Regatta Hunter Trophy finishing first, the 2015 Sea Scout Regatta Hunter Trophy ending as the First Runner-up, and the 2017 Sea Scout Regatta Laser Bahia Trophy as the Second Runner-up.
He is looking forward to the international exposure and challenge that the Koch Cup as to offer.

Oscar is from Turku, Turku, Finland and is a member of Scoutkåren Pojkarna. He has been active in scouting for 3years and has earned the rank of Rover. He just graduated from Katedralskolan i Åbo.
He is a group leader in his scouting organization with his teammate Filip and their group consists of boys aging from 12-14. Other scouting- accomplishments include the last Koch Cup in which we finished third.
Highlights in his academic career include a school-business competition and a trip to Switzerland to visit CERN the European Organization for Nuclear Research. This trip was done as part of a physics course. He has also taken advanced studies in Math, Physics, English, German and Geography with good grades. His upcoming matriculation exam is also quite the highlight.
He us very interested in sail racing and his summers consist of working and competing. The 2016 Koch cup in Long Beach was one of the best things he has ever done, and he really looks forward to experience the competition and event once again. With the time and effort Oscar and his teammate have put in to practice sailing, he thinks that our team would have a chance to compete.
He has been sailing for 5 years weekly in local events (in the summer) and other nationwide competitions a few times per summer.
Caleb is from Detroit, Michigan, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 1148 of the Great Lakes Field Council. He has been active in scouting for 11 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice and Eagle Scout. He will graduate in 2020 from Henry Ford College.
He is an Eagle Scout. He has been active in his Sea Scout Ship for over two years, and is a focused student working on becoming a paramedic.
He looks forward to racing in the Koch Cup to proudly represent his council, and family, and everyone who has had an impact in his scouting career. He desires to represent the people who have supported him in his efforts to learn to sail, a journey that started less than 2 years ago with his sea scout ship.

Hannah is from Kohler, Wisconsin, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Griffin (5050) of the Bay Lakes Council. She has been active in scouting for 1 year and has earned the rank of Apprentice. She will graduate in 2020 from North High School.
She figure skates, sails on her high school sailing team, volunteers for the Special Olympics, is the president for her 4-H club, is involved in Sea Scouts, and is constantly finding new topics to learn and explore.
She enjoys sailing, and feels participating in the Koch Cup will be a great opportunity for her to improve her skills, as well as improve her knowledge of BSA.
She has been sailing for 1 year and competed in about 3 sailing races in 420s and Lasers.
Cooper is from Phoenix, New York, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 876 of the Longhouse Council. He has been active in scouting for 12 years and has earned the rank of Life Scout. He will graduate in 2019 from Charles Baker High School.
He is almost a lifelong Scout. He is in many volunteer activities such as Scouting and Ducks Unlimited, which has helped him to help others throughout his life. Academically he is a driven student and always tries his best, he is on the Varsity Track team at his school as a sprinter. Recently he has helped in a Honeywell project to help create wildlife areas along the shores of Onondaga Lake, previously one of the most polluted lakes in America, as well as volunteering at a senior care center.
He feels that the Koch Cup he is an amazing opportunity that has been presented to him by Scouting. This trip will provide a chance to connect with more Sea Scouts from across the world, and will give him and his sailing partner a chance to prove themselves on the course as sailors.

Rebecca is from Solbjerg, Midtjylland, Denmark and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Stifinderne Soe (Troppen) of Aarhus. She has been active in scouting for 4 years and has earned the rank of Boat leader, Troppen. She just graduated from Public school: Solbjerg Skolen.
In Scouting she has become a Boat leader and passed the exam in navigation for pleasure boats. She enjoys training younger Sea Scouts in boat and sea skills.
She is looking forward to the Koch Cup and gaining new friends, exchanging cultures and seeing different ways of being scouts.
She has been sailing for 4 years and has experience in sailing both keel boats (J-22’s) and smaller dinghies and has practiced a lot in a 420. In Denmark, Sea Scouts do not sail for competition; she and her team mate have tried it many times, mostly for fun and not in official races. She participated in the Cup before.
Marilyn is from Dana Point, California, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Mariners (936) of the Orange County Council. She has been active in scouting for 2 years and has earned the rank of Able. She will graduate in 2020 from Dana Hills High School.
She has gone on many cruises on the Spirit of Dana Point and the Mariner boats and has participated in the charity regattas. She goes to the harbor every Saturday and helps work on the boats. She practices very hard on her high school racing team out of the Dana Point Yacht Club. Sea Scouts has greatly and positively affected her life and she feels it would be an honor to race in Koch Cup.
She has been sailing for 2 years about once a month on 420s, CFJs, and J-22s.
Parker is from Tampa, Florida, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Intrepid (915) of the Skyway Council. He has been active in scouting for 4 years and has earned the rank of Able. He just graduated from Middleton High School.
He likes to sail and scouting and sailing together will help him prepare for his career in the Navy. He is currently pursuing his Quartermaster Award and has been sailing for 9 years, and grown very proficient at it.
He has been sails once or twice a month and has experience sailing the following classes of boats: capri 16.5, windmill, sunfish, capri 14.2, 420, 470, J24, Meles 24, Catalina 27, Catalina 36, beneteau 40, and opti. He has participated in races at the Boca Ciega Yacht Club and St Pete Yacht Club. He has been in races in Tampa Bay, Apollo Beach, Davis Island, and Lake Allatoona.
Simon is from Cypress, Texas, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Endeavour (ship 846) of the Sam Houston Area Council. He has been active in scouting for 4 years and has earned the rank of Able. He just graduated from Rosehill Christian School.
He most recently earned his Able rank in Sea Scouts, but has also been promoted to Crew Teacher on the Bark Elissa. He has won over 135 races at Sea Star Base Galveston in one summer (over 275 races both summers) in the Sonar keelboats, and placed third in Aggie Cup. He has also competed in a few Icicle Regattas (non-spinnaker class) and placed fourth in his class. In fall of 2017, he sailed a Ranger 23 in Lake Travis and raced several other small keelboats in a short circuit series regatta and placed second out of 24 boats. He raced several boats with Sea Star Base Galveston and won a few small-time regattas with their amazing crew.
He feels that he would learn a lot from racing a smaller class dinghy like the FJs, being a keelboat racer. He also loves making new friends and competition and feels that the Koch Cup will be very beneficial to him. Together, he and his brother make a good team, and they have often had the ability to outperform professionals. This being said, he believes he and his brother will give the participants of Koch Cup a run for their money!
He has been sailing for Six Years taking part in races approximately six times a year, not including the races out of Sea Star Base Galveston on Sonars. His sailing experience is on keelboats ranging from 21ft. to 57 ft., AMF Sunfish, strictly mono-hulls, single and multi-mast, and Fj racing dinghies. Most of his racing has been out of Galveston or Offats Bayou, but there was one other out of Lake Travis Sailing Club and another by Sea Scouts in Lake Houston.
Zander is from Cypress, Texas, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Endeavor (846) of the Sam Houston Area Council. He has been active in scouting for 4 years and has earned the rank of Ordinary. He will graduate in 2021 from Rosehill Christian School.
He is active in his church and been on Mission trips, has over 120 hours of community service, is on his high school track team and , an A and B honor student.
He and his brother have worked hard to get here and look forward to finally having the chance to participate in the Koch Cup.
He has been sailing for Four years whenever he can. He has experience sailing many boats to include Fjs, Sunfish, Catalina22s, Catalina 25s, J150s, Coronado 15s, Pico 12s, Laser 16s, Capri 16.2s, Super Scampers, Almons Tri Cab 31s, Tartin 30s, and Sonar 21s. Most of his sailing has taken place in Galveston, Offatts Bayou.
Cole is from Dunkirk, Maryland, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Dragon Lady (1942) of the Chain Bridge Council. He has been active in scouting for 11 years and has earned the rank of Ordinary. He will graduate in 2019 from Calverton School.
He is also a Life Scout, the Boatswain of Ship 1942, Senior Patrol Leader of troop 144, and was first in the Long Island SEAL in 2017.

Rob is from Galway, Ireland and is a member of the Port of Galway Sea Scouts (24) of Galway. He has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Bos’un. He will graduate in 2019 from St. Enda’s collage.
He joined Sea Beavers at age 7. He has received the bronze Gaisce Award, is a member of his schools Gaelic football, athletics and soccer teams and has assisted with several community fundraising activities.
He is a 3 time winner at the national sea scout regatta, 2nd overall in 125th annual Cong-Galway, Europe’s longest inland dinghy sailing race * completed in Giraglia 2017, winner WIORA 2017 crew on Irish offshore racing boat, crewed on board The Green Dragon (ex Volvo Ocean Race boat Vo70 ) from Galway to St. Tropez and recently crewed on transatlantic trip aboard Green Dragon covering 2764 nautical miles
Two of his passions are competitive sailing and sea scouting. He feels that participating in the Koch Cup is a unique opportunity to combine both in The Premier international Sea Scouting event and a chance to make new scouting friends from America and other countries.
He has been sailing for 6 years and racing for 4 years primarily on oppies, topaz’s, 420s.
Andrew is from Heath, Texas, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 1000 of the Circle Ten Council. He has been active in scouting for under a year and has earned the rank of Apprentice. He will graduate in 2020 from Rockwall Heath High School.
His greatest accomplishment so far in Scouting is placing first in the Southern Region Qualifier for the Sea Scout Cup. He has played the clarinet for four years in the Honors and Symphonic Bands and achieved All Region recognition. Academically, he enjoys his architecture and history classes the most and he plans to continue to learn the scope of Architecture throughout high school. He is involved in the Young Men’s Service League with his mom in the Rockwall Heath area in which he volunteers for Special Olympics and Meals on Wheels.
He thoroughly enjoys the sport of sailing and likes to compete. Placing first at the qualifier for his area was very exciting and he is honored to represent Ship 1000 in the Koch Cup.
He has been sailing for 6 Years and racing for 5 of those years mainly on Optimists, Lasers, MC Scows, FJs, 420s, and IC24s throughout Texas and he has competed in California twice.
Britney is from Apollo Beach, Florida, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 185 of the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council. She has been active in scouting for 4 years and is serving as Boatswains mate. She will graduate in 2020 from Lennard High School.
She participates in Tampa Sailing Squadron monthly work parties for community service and is working on rank advancement in her ship.

She has been sailing for 3 years and has experience sailing J-22’s, Flying G’s, mutineers, and other small boats.
Sawyer is from Edmonds, Washington, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Constellation (226) of the Mt. Baker Council. He has been active in scouting in hos troop for 8 years, and is Sea Scouts for 4 years and has earned the rank of Apprentice. He just graduated from Edmonds Community College – running start.
He is an Eagle Scout and was on his High School Sailing Team. He has been accepted to attend Montana State University. He was awarded the Woody Herman Jazz Band Award in school.
He has been an active participant in Sea Scouts for several years now and has gained many skills and has become proficient in sailing and can confidently sail vessels up to 36 feet in length, which he also club racing in the spring and summer in the Puget Sound. He has been competitively racing in the High School Sailing Team in his area for 3 years and has been getting better at sailing since he started and would looks forward to the opportunity to further his skills by participating in the Koch Cup and meet other Scouts with the same interests.
He has been sailing for 4 years on Vanguard V-15s, FJs, 420s, Lasers full rig, Lidos, International Sailing Canoes, Jenneau Sunshine 36s, and Ericsson 27s. He as taken part in races in High School all over Washington State.
Erica is from Hubert, North Carolina, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Sea Wolf (1810) of the East Carolina Council. She has been active in scouting for under a year and has earned the rank of Apprentice. She will graduate in 2019 from Home School.
She is home schooled and a junior in high school while also dual enrolled at Carteret Community College. As a Sea Scout, she is one of the founding members and has helped in the growth of her ship. She has helped teach other scouts in her ship on how to identify different types of sail boats and to tie some basic knots and has volunteered to help run booths for the local Seafood and Healing Waters festivals and represented her ship in a North Carolina State University oyster roast fundraiser. She holds classes at the local library to teach younger youth on useful knots and help promotes Sea Scouts on a local radio station.
Her ship helps to lead and run a 4H group, of which she has served as reporter, secretary, and currently, president. She is also the captain of an underwater robotics team, and was a member of it when they won first in presentation at the 2017 MATE ROV competition. She also helps run booths that use under water ROVs to promote youth to get them involved with the community.
As for the sports, she is on a bowling league and practices Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and does rock climb as a hobby.
With her ship being relatively new, she would like it to have something impressive to show, She feels that being able to say she participated in the William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup would give her something to be recognized for.
She has been sailing for under a year on FJ sailboats.
Brenna is from Fond du lac, Wisconsin, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Sea 5792 of the Bay Lakes Council. She has been active in scouting for 1 year and has earned the rank of Able scout. She graduated in 2017 from Horace Mann high school as valedictorian.
She has volunteered through the key club at his high school for four years and at the local public library for many years before that. She played tennis for three years and has danced for 14 years.
She feels as though her performance and sportsmanship at the qualifying race in her region and invite to the cup makes her an excellent participant for the race and thinks it would be a great opportunity for her to see and experience this race since it would help her become more advanced and involved in sailing.
She has been sailing for 8 years and has participated in sanctioned sailing races for about three summers in open bics, lasers and I-20’s.
Andrew is from Baldwinsville, New York, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship Cricket (876) of the Longhouse Council. He has been active in scouting for 12 years and has earned the ranks of Eagle Scout and Ordinary. He will graduate in 2021 from Clarkson University.
He is an Eagle Scout, Flotilla Boatswain’s Mate, competitor in the Vex Robotics World Competition, Baker High School Graduate, and Clarkson University student.
