
Biographical Info
Evan is from Frederick, Maryland, United States and is a member of Sea Scout Ship 59 of the National Capital Area Council. He has been active in scouting for 13 years and has earned the rank of Sea Scout Apprentice & Eagle Scout. He will graduate in 2021 from Boston University.
He joined Ship 59 after earning his Eagle rank in September 2015 as a Junior in high school. He has participated in a number of weekend sails in the Chesapeake Bay as well as two long sails in Narragansett Bay and the James River, as well as Winter Training and the Nygard competition. He is an avid kayaker and backpacker and has earned the sailing, canoeing, kayaking and backpacking merit badges. His Eagle project was completed for his high school where he worked on the outdoor classroom, installing trex bench seating as well as trailblazing and installing a tiered path off the main trail which allowed creek access for student research. He also marked the trail and installed 6 tree ID plaques. He has volunteered at Camp Airy, his district resident summer camp as a Junior staff, Camp SPL and now merit badge counselor for Skating and Pioneering.
He was selected as a 2018 NESA World Explorer Amazon Biologist and will be traveling to Tiputini Biodiversity Research Station this summer. From September to December 2017, he completed EMT training at Boston University and after passing the national exam, is a licensed EMT in Massachusetts and works for Boston University’s EMT crew as well as a volunteer Health Ambassador.
He has been sailing with his ship since the Fall 2015 after earning his BSA Eagle rank. He feels fortunate to be included in the 2018 Koch Cup to represent his Ship.
