
Biographical Info
Rob is from Galway, Ireland and is a member of the Port of Galway Sea Scouts (24) of Galway. He has been active in scouting for 3 years and has earned the rank of Bos’un. He will graduate in 2019 from St. Enda’s collage.
He joined Sea Beavers at age 7. He has received the bronze Gaisce Award, is a member of his schools Gaelic football, athletics and soccer teams and has assisted with several community fundraising activities.
He is a 3 time winner at the national sea scout regatta, 2nd overall in 125th annual Cong-Galway, Europe’s longest inland dinghy sailing race * completed in Giraglia 2017, winner WIORA 2017 crew on Irish offshore racing boat, crewed on board The Green Dragon (ex Volvo Ocean Race boat Vo70 ) from Galway to St. Tropez and recently crewed on transatlantic trip aboard Green Dragon covering 2764 nautical miles
Two of his passions are competitive sailing and sea scouting. He feels that participating in the Koch Cup is a unique opportunity to combine both in The Premier international Sea Scouting event and a chance to make new scouting friends from America and other countries.
He has been sailing for 6 years and racing for 4 years primarily on oppies, topaz’s, 420s.
